How to Prepare for Career Counseling Appointments

  • Send any reviewable documents in a Microsoft Office compatible format at least 24 hours prior to your appointment. (Ex: resume, cover letter, statements of intention)
  • Include your preferred method of communication in the Location field when reserving an appointment, including any corresponding contact information.
  • Do your homework prior to your appointment. We provide a variety of online resources that will allow you to do independent research on many career services related topics.
  • Plan ahead. Come with specific questions for your Career Consultant if possible. Prepare to allocate 30 minutes to a resume/cover letter review or a mock interview/recommendation session.
  • Join the GW Public Health Network on LinkedIn. Alumni, current students, faculty and staff leverage this group to post information on upcoming events, tips, and trending public health topics.
