Welcome to our new students; welcome back to our continuing students; and hello again to those of you who have been here working hard throughout the summer! Hopefully you’ve all had an introduction to SPHHS career services, but as a new school year begins, I’d like to provide another quick overview of the resources that are available to you.
We’re trying to cut down on listserv traffic, so be sure to read the SPHHS Weekly Student Update that is emailed to your GWU email account each Monday. This newsletter is the comprehensive source of announcements, event details, and information each week.
I am available to meet with you individually throughout the year to review resumes and cover letters, conduct mock interviews, discuss salary negotiation, and address any other career-related needs you may have. My office is located in 2175 K Street, Suite 500. To set up an appointment, email me at email@example.com
The SPHHS Jobs Database is your best source of information regarding available jobs and internships. If you or your employer are aware of any public health related jobs or internships, please submit a position description to firstname.lastname@example.org. In addition to the SPHHS Jobs Database, APHA Career Mart, PublicHealthJobs.net, and NACCHO Career Network are also great sources for job opportunities.
Come back to the SPHHS Career Services blog frequently to find out about events and resources, read alumni profiles, and learn job search and career management techniques.
To connect with SPHHS and each other on LinkedIn, add GW to your LinkedIn profile, then request to join our SPHHS Students LinkedIn group. We hope that you will use this group as a forum to ask questions and provide advice to one another.
Find resources and guides on topics such as writing an effective cover letter, conducting informational interviews, salary negotiation, and many others on the Career Develpment Resources Page of the SPHHS website.
