GW MHA Program Wins Prestigious CAHME/Baylor Scott & White Health Award

Today the Master of Health Administration (MHA) program at Milken Institute School of Public Health at the George Washington University was honored with an award given by the Commission on Accreditation of HealthCare Management Education (CAHME) and Baylor Scott & White Health. CAHME and Baylor Scott & White Health, the largest not-for-profit health care system in Texas, created this first of a kind award program in 2016 to recognize excellence in quality improvement education.

“We are proud to be recognized by CAHME and the Baylor Scott & White Health award program for providing a high quality education to our MHA students, who will become future leaders in the health care industry,” says Leonard Friedman, PhD, MPH, FACHE, program director for the MHA program and Professor of Health Policy and Management at Milken Institute SPH. “Now more than ever there is a growing need for highly skilled executives who are prepared to manage health care organizations in the rapidly changing health care environment.”

The CAHME/Baylor Scott & White Health Award for Excellence in Quality Improvement Education will be announced today in Modern Healthcare, providing the GW MHA program with national recognition for excellence. In addition, the GW MHA program will be honored at the CAHME awards ceremony to be held in conjunction with the American College of Healthcare Executives Congress on March 26.

The award also comes with up to $5000 in scholarship grants to fund educational materials related to quality improvement and an invitation to Baylor University Robbins Case Competition in Healthcare Management.

CAHME and Baylor Scott & White Health created the award to recognize national leaders in educational programs that provide training on quality improvement in healthcare to future leaders in the field. The GW MHA program, which was established in 1959, develops leaders who possess the values, knowledge and skill to achieve the optimal delivery of the highest quality health care, Friedman says.
