SPHHS Student Publishes Op-Ed in The Washington Post

Jill DeGraff Thorpe, a student at SPHHS, recently published an op-ed in the The Washington Post in which she says the health insurance exchanges set up by the Affordable Care Act offer a lifeline to small businesses in the District of Columbia. The idea for the published piece came from a writing assignment in an advanced health policy class taught by Professor Paula M. Lantz. “It is great when students can take the policy analysis and writing skills they are learning in the classroom and apply them to the key issues of the day in public discourse,” said Professor Lantz, PhD, chair of the Department of Health Policy at SPHHS.
