WASHINGTON (August 12, 2026) — The George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health will waive the application fee for the first 1,000 applicants to its residential Master of Public Health (MPH) program through the Schools of Public Health Application Service (SOPHAS).
The initiative represents a significant investment by GW’s Milken Institute School of Public Health and is designed to remove a financial barrier that can discourage prospective students from pursuing graduate education in public health.
“As communities continue to face increasingly complex public health challenges, we want to ensure that talented future public health leaders are not deterred by the cost of pursuing their education,” said dean of the Milken Institute School of Public Health Kelly Gebo. “We believe in the potential of every aspiring leader. Removing financial barriers is one more way we are investing in their potential and in a stronger, healthier world, together.”
As of August 12, prospective students applying through the 2027 SOPHAS application cycle who select the Milken Institute School of Public Health as their first application may request a fee waiver code here. Codes will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for the first 1,000 eligible applicants and must be used by October 1, 2026.
All propsective students who apply by the school’s January 15, 2027 priority scholarship deadline also will be considered for additional scholarships.
To receive a fee waiver code, applicants will be asked to indicate they are ready to submit their application and provide a screenshot of their SOPHAS "Ready to Submit" page. Once verified, they will receive a code to waive the standard $155 SOPHAS application fee.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the fee waiver:
- GW’s Milken Institute School of Public Health Residential MPH must be the applicant's first SOPHAS application.
- Fee waivers are available only for the first 1,000 eligible applicants.
- Codes must be used by October 1, 2026.
- Application fees that have already been paid cannot be reimbursed.
