Academic Services

  • coordinates dean’s sign-off on all academic forms requiring dean’s approval
  • offers academic advising to undergraduates
  • addresses DegreeMAP questions and issues
  • monitors students' academic progress, including the progress of students on academic probation
  • answers questions regarding SPHHS and university policies and procedures
  • maintains the online student handbook
  • evaluates student requests for emergency loans
  • evaluates student applications to the Capital Connection Fund and other school funding sources for students
  • evaluates student applications for partial reimbursement of credentialing exam fees

  • resolves issues with adding and dropping courses
  • clears students for graduation

Career Center Webpages

Helps public health students and alumni through all stages of career exploration and professional development. The Office of Career Services offers the following resources and services:

  • one-on-one career counseling appointments
  • the SPHHS jobs database
  • the public health Career Services blog
  • LinkedIn groups for SPHHS students and SPHHS alumni.
  • events such as skills workshops, employer information sessions and site visits
  • GWork, a university-wide online jobs resource database for undergraduate and graduate students. Create a GWork account
  • GW Career Advisor Network, an online directory of GW alumni dedicated to providing career strategy assistance to fellow alumni and current students

Handles a broad range of issues related to undergraduate and graduate program admissions. The Office of Admissions and Recruitment offers the following services:

  • group and one-on-one information sessions
  • coordination of campus visits
  • on-campus events such as orientation and accepted student visit week
  • off-campus events such as fairs and expos

This department is responsible for increasing the financial capacity of the school through philanthropic gifts and grants from individuals and organizations. It provides opportunities for alumni engagement through volunteer opportunities and career services.

Information Technology 

SPHHS Employees requestings help from the Information Technology Office, should fill out an online service request.

Assists employees with university-owned technology & software, including:

  • updating software on university-owned laptops, desktops and printers
  • purchasing and installing new software
  • evaluating technical needs and requirements
  • providing advice on technical purchases of systems and software
