Holly Mead, PhD, is a professorial lecturer for the Doctor of Public Health program and a member of the Department of Health Policy faculty. Dr. Mead was director of the MS program in Health Policy for nearly 10 years, has developed and taught courses on mixed methods research design, qualitative methodology, policy analysis, and most recently the DrPH dissertation proposal class. She has advised countless MS and doctoral-level students on dissertations, theses and final research projects. Dr. Mead received tenure from the Milken Institute School of Public Health in 2016.

Dr. Mead is also founder and principal researcher of Holloway Research Group, a health research consultancy that focuses on improving patient-centered quality of care for underserved and vulnerable patients, including the elderly, those with chronic illnesses and those facing racial, ethnic and gender disparities. She examines how best to integrate patient values and priorities in the delivery of care to ensure patients receive high quality care and achieve optimal health outcomes. As an applied health services researcher, Dr. Mead’s work highlights the importance of understanding and measuring patient experience, identifying gaps in care that lead to disparities, and making recommendations for delivery system change. Dr. Mead is a mixed-methods researcher with expertise in rigorous qualitative and quantitative methodologies, including survey design and instrument validation, case studies, in-depth interviews, focus group studies and secondary data analysis. She has over 20 years of experience working as a health services researcher, managing large multi-site research projects, overseeing million dollar research budgets, working with interdisciplinary teams and producing practical, evidence-based deliverables.

Dr. Mead received her BA from Middlebury College and her PhD in Public Policy from the Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration at the George Washington University.
