Press releases and media advisories on faculty research, events and school-related announcements

  • Please let us know about your accepted papers! We maintain a list of our faculty's recently accepted papers for use in various communications. Knowing about your upcoming publications also helps us determine if there are additional media opportunities to publicize your work, and provides us with the necessary time to coordinate with you on them.

Media appearances/faculty experts – Journalists can find an expert through our faculty database, or contact the Director of Media Relations Kathy Fackelman for assistance selecting and coordinating faculty media appearances.

Media training for faculty – We offer workshops for Milken Institute SPH faculty interested in increasing their ability and confidence in communicating their work to journalists in TV, radio or print interviews. Email [email protected] to find out the date of the next available media training workshop.

Digital Screens at the Milken Institute SPH building (950 New Hampshire Ave., NW) – We manage the digital screens located in the lobby and next to the elevators at the Milken Institute SPH building. Email us at [email protected] with questions about the screens.

Suggest a Story – Let us know about your department, faculty, staff, or students by e-mailing [email protected]. We are always looking for people to profile in our various publications, feature stories and social media posts.

Faculty and Staff, and Student Newsletters – We coordinate the weekly faculty & staff and student e-newsletters that are sent each Monday morning. We train each department’s “departmental editor” to submit announcements to the faculty & staff newsletter. The department editors collect and publish information on the notable achievements of our faculty, students and alumni. Don’t know your departmental editor? Contact us at [email protected] and we can point you in the right direction.

  • The deadline to submit items for the weekly e-newsletters is close of business Wednesdays

Communications Policies and Guidelines

Milken Institute SPH cannot sponsor or appear to participate or endorse charity activities/unofficial Milken Institute SPH activities by faculty, students and staff.  The Milken Institute SPH logo or marks are never to be used for this purpose. If recruiting individuals from the Milken Institute SPH community for activities, the language/team name needs to be “Students from GW’s Milken Institute SPH” or “Faculty from GW’s Milken Institute SPH,” etc., as the school name cannot stand alone.

Milken Institute SPH students, faculty or staff who would like to promote public health group activities, such as charity walks and runs, that they have organized, must submit a request to the Milken Institute SPH communications office for approval.  If approved, we will help promote in the Milken Institute SPH weekly newsletters and on our social media accounts. The communications office will not promote unofficial Milken Institute SPH activities through the Milken Institute SPH website.
