Research projects address the following aspects of public health:
Environmental Sustainability: Understanding the health impacts of environmental contamination and climate disruption while promoting analysis, policies, and technologies to assure healthy water, air, food, consumer products, and home environments.
Occupational Health: Improving health and safety for workers in the US and worldwide, with an emphasis on vulnerable workers and workers in the construction, auto, and food production industries.
Risk Science and Policy: Advancing the use of science in policy decisions, and improving methods for translating scientific findings to promote better public health choices.
Infectious Diseases: Promoting food and sanitation systems that reduce the spread of disease and combat the emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
Social and Community Dimensions of Environmental Health: Examining the relationships between communities and environments to determine the social factors that lead to better health and quality of life.
