GW Hosts ‘The David Rubenstein Show’ Interview with Mike Milken

November 5, 2018

Financier and philanthropist David Rubenstein recently interviewed fellow financier and philanthropist Mike Milken for an episode of his show, The David Rubenstein Show: Peer-to-Peer Conversations. They spoke about five decades of successful initiatives in medical research, education, public health and capital access.

The interview, filmed Oct. 21 at the George Washington University’s Jack Morton Auditorium, aired Nov. 1 on Bloomberg TV and is available to watch online.

In March 2014, the Milken Institute, the Sumner M. Redstone Charitable Foundation and the Milken Family Foundation gave the George Washington University three gifts totaling $80 million, the largest donation received by GW at the time. The gifts allowed the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health (GW Milken Institute SPH) to increase research and education initiatives.

During the interview, Rubenstein asked Milken why he chose to support GW Milken Institute SPH. Milken said GW Milken Institute SPH’s proximity to political, research and scientific hubs that influence the nation’s health policies was a major draw.

“When you step back and think about where all the decisions are made related to health policy, it occurs here in Washington, D.C.,” Milken said.
