Scholarships, assistantships and various other funding opportunities are available through several different groups:

These funding resources help support Milken Institute School of Public Health student from any department as they pursue off-campus internships, professional credentialing, attendance at conferences or research projects.
Milken Institute School of Public Health Credentialing Examination Fund
For the first time, the Milken Institute School of Public Health will offer all graduate students and recent graduates of a graduate degree program a 50% reimbursement for the fee of one professional credentialing examination. All reimbursements will be for the lowest registration fee offered. Membership and/or application fees cannot be submitted for reimbursement.
Those eligible for 50% reimbursement are:
- Current, degree seeking, Milken Institute School of Public Health graduate students in good academic standing (GPA of at least 3.0).
OR
- Milken Institute School of Public Health new alumni sitting for an exam within one calendar year from graduation.
To apply for 50% reimbursement:

- Provide a copy of the registration receipt

The Capital Connection Fund*
The Milken Institute School of Public Health and the Public Health Alumni Association established the Capital Connection Fund to provide financial assistance for students engaged in off-campus research, internship, conference and other professional development activities. Contributions of alumni, faculty, and other friends of the Milken Institute School of Public Health help to make these opportunities possible (Make a Gift).

Milken Institute School of Public Health Department-specific Funds
These funds are available to students from the sponsoring department/program. If you are a student in the Exercise Science, Environmental and Occupational Health or Epidemiology and Biostatistics Department, please check your department's "student resources" section for full information about department-specific funding such as assistantships or funds to attend conferences.
Exercise Science Graduate Assistantship Opportunities
All incoming and current students of the Milken Institute School of Public Health are invited to apply. However, these assistantships do require a formal educational background in exercise science to be eligible. Please view the Department of Exercise Science web page of student resources for more information.
Epidemiology and Biostatistics Assistantships, Research Funding, and Student Employment Opportunities
The involvement of graduate students in the research activities of faculty members from the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics is of paramount importance. These opportunities enhance the educational experience of students by reinforcing lessons learned in the classroom and providing practical research experience in the public health work place. These funds are available to students from any department, but applicants must possess additional qualifications as specified in the scholarship.
GW Hospital Women's Board Scholars Program
Every year, the Women's Board supports a number of medical, nursing and public health students (among others) through scholarships. Milken Institute School of Public Health students in good standing, who have been continuously employed at GWUH for at least one year prior to the application deadline AND who will be continuously employed at GWUH for at least one year upon selection, are eligible to apply. In late summer, a call for applications is distributed via the GWUH website, flyers around the Hospital, and via the Milken Institute School of Public Health Listserv.
Columbian Women Scholarships
The Columbian Women Scholarship Award program enables the Columbian Women to present female GW students with scholarships based upon high levels of academic excellence, commitment to a chosen profession, and financial need. Award monies are applied toward GW tuition. Applicants must: be enrolled for the current academic year and be pursuing a degree in any field of study at GW; have completed a minimum of 15 credit hours for undergraduate work or 9 credit hours for graduate work; have a minimum grade point average of 3.5. Application deadline is in February each year; for more details see the Columbian Women Scholarship document.

Knowledge in Action Career Internship Fund
The GW Career Services Council established the Knowledge in Action Career Internship Fund to encourage GW students to pursue high-quality, necessarily unpaid internships that foster their career exploration and enhance their academic program.
Grants ranging from $1,000 to $3,000 to GW undergraduate and graduate students. Learn more information about the fund, the application deadlines and guidelines.
The Office of Graduate Student Assistantships and Fellowships
This GW-Wide office for graduate students maintains information about a wide variety of University and non-University Fellowships for graduate students. Most of these awards require your fellowship application up to a full year before the funds are needed.
GW Center for Undergraduate Fellowships and Research
This GW-wide center assists all GW undergraduates interested in pursuing national fellowships that recognize academic and extracurricular excellence. It also promotes the involvement of GW undergraduates in research experiences that allow them to learn firsthand, through interaction with faculty mentors and graduate students, how knowledge in their fields is generated
CDC Public Health Law Fellowship
This paid opportunity will provide graduate students (e.g., MPH, DrPH, MPA, PhD), law students, and recent alumni of these programs with on-the-job training to prepare them for careers in public health law or policy. Fellows will be matched with mentors at host sites in state, tribal, local, or territorial health departments; CDC; or other public health law organizations that support work in public health law and policy.
