Dr. Stapp is a psychiatric and chronic disease epidemiologist deeply committed to improving health and reducing suffering associated with mental and neurological disorders. She is an assistant professor in the GWSPH department of epidemiology, where she directs the Healthspan Lab. Previously she trained at Johns Hopkins and the National Institute of Mental Health, and was a 2025 Fellow of the Institute on Methods and Protocols for Advancement of Clinical Trials in ADRD (IMPACT-AD).

She conducts research in support of identification, prevention, and recovery in complex neuropsychiatric disorders. Her work primarily focuses on bipolar disorder and mood disorders, dementia, and the intersection of mental and physical health. She incorporates primary and secondary research approaches from epidemiology and genetic epidemiology, psychiatric and psychological clinical studies, mobile technologies, and health services research.
