The George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health along with the Consortium of Universities for Global Health and the Association of Academic Health Centers International are the organizers for this year’s World Health Summit Regional Meeting 2023 in Washington, DC on April 13. The event brings together more than 50 speakers, including World Health Summit Regional Meeting International President Adnan Hyder, the senior associate dean for research at the GW Milken Institute School of Public Health. Hyder and his colleagues will discuss pressing issues that go along with the meeting theme of “Bridging the Science to Policy Gap for Global Health.” Session topics include, amongst other issues, “Global Health in a Political World,” “Climate Change, Pandemics, Social Determinants of Health,” “Racism in Global Health,” and “Sustainable Giving in Global Health.” A recent article in GW Today discussed the importance of the regional meeting this year.

The World Health Summit is the international strategic forum for global health held annually in Berlin and the World Health Summit Regional Meeting takes place every year in different parts of the world and brings regional topics to the forefront. The M8 Alliance of Academic Health Centers, Universities and National Academies is the academic foundation of the World Health Summit. It is a unique network of leading academic health centers, universities, and research institutions from all over the world. Each Regional Meeting is hosted by the M8 Alliance member holding the World Health Summit International Presidency, which rotates every year.
