Save the Date: Contribute, Present, and Learn at Workshop Before APHA 2025

The Community-Based Primary Health Care (CBPHC) Working Group and the Redstone Global Center for Prevention and Wellness will be co-hosting a workshop, Community-Based Primary Health Care in Times of Volatility and Change, on Saturday 1 November 2025, in Washington, DC just ahead of the annual American Public Health Association (APHA) Conference (November 2-5, 2025).

Registration is through APHA. Attendance does not require APHA membership or attendance at the conference, but we hope you will attend it as well. Learn more about the workshop and how to register.

There are three student opportunities:

  • Submit an abstract, and if accepted, present a poster on your community-based primary care projects and research. There may be a scholarship available. The abstract needs to be submitted by June 30 to Sandy Hoar at hoaratgwu [dot] edu (hoar[at]gwu[dot]edu). Send a message of interest, “subject: CBPHC abstract” and you will receive detailed information about the abstract.
  • We still are planning for the workshop and welcome student input at our brief once-a-month meetings.
  • We hope to increase the working group’s social media presence. This would be a great opportunity for 1 or 2 students to showcase and expand skills while making a real contribution for our national and international audience.

For questions or updates, please contact: Sandy Hoar, hoaratgwu [dot] edu (hoar[at]gwu[dot]edu) or Andrew Herrera, andrewatcuramericas [dot] org (andrew[at]curamericas[dot]org).

This workshop will present a unique opportunity for a diverse range of stakeholders - policymakers, practitioners, researchers, and community leaders - to share lessons, explore synergies, and catalyze new partnerships supporting community-based primary health in domestic and international settings. Together, we will chart a path toward more equitable, sustainable, and holistic models of care that can meet the complex health needs of our time.
