Samantha Appleby joined the Department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences at The George Washington University in January 2016. With over a decade of experience in the health and fitness industry, she is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA) and a Certified Personal Trainer (ACSM).

Samantha’s career has focused on wellness program management, personal training, coaching, teaching, and leadership—particularly within higher education settings. In her current role as a Lifestyle, Sport, and Physical Activity (LSPA) Program Assistant, she plays a key part in delivering more than 100 activity courses across GW’s campuses and affiliated locations. This position has allowed her to develop strong leadership, communication, and facility management skills in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

In addition to her administrative work, Samantha has served as an LSPA Instructor, teaching classes in high-intensity interval training, weight training, and fitness for older adults. Her broad experience working with diverse populations has shaped her specialties in training women and older adults—groups she is especially passionate about supporting.
