Dr. Paichadze has more than a decade of academic and professional experience encompassing medicine and public health with a particular focus on research and training for better prevention of and response to chronic conditions and injuries. A medical doctor and internist with a subspecialty in endocrinology, her public health research has included monitoring and evaluation, digital health and capacity building in low- and middle-income countries. Through numerous collaborations, she has sought to develop data-driven solutions to urgent public health challenges. Her work has also focused on the use of mobile technologies to support effective gathering, sharing and timely access to data. For the past seven years, she has managed four FIC/NIH-funded training and capacity development programs in Uganda (JHU-MU Chronic TRIAD (D43) and JHU-MU E-TRIAD programs (R25)), Pakistan (JHU-AfPak ICTIRT program (D43)) and Mali (US-Mali RETP (R25)). She has supported master’s- and doctoral-level training programs and the implementation of new courses at collaborating institutions; led multiple in-country workshops; and mentored several generations of Ugandan and Pakistani trainees.

Her research interests include utilizing mobile technologies for optimizing data systems on NCDs and associated risk factors, using the data for defining gaps in the management of chronic conditions and understanding the impact of commercial determinants on health outcomes. She is interested in leveraging mobile technologies for teaching, research, and improved functioning of health systems.
