Dr. Derek Dangerfield II is a prevention scientist with expertise in behavioral and social science methodology, health behavior theory, and sexual health among racial and sexual minority men (SMM). His primary research promotes sexual health for Black gay and bisexual men throughout the United States and has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the NIH, and the DC Center for AIDS Research. Currently, he is leading a digital prospective cohort study to identify socioecological factors that impact care outcomes among 1000 Mid-Atlantic Black SMM living with HIV. Dr. Dangerfield teaches Advanced Health Communication where he focuses on theoretically driven approaches to address health disparities, misinformation, and disinformation.
