Katie Fernandez is the Public Health Practice Manager with the Department of Prevention and Community Health at the Milken Institute School of Public Health, where she mentors students throughout their Practicum experiences, helps to develop the Department's nonprofit, government, business, and academic partnerships, and assists with other Practice initiatives on behalf on the Department's faculty and staff.
Previously, Katie worked with the Department as the Graduate Student Assistant for the MPH- Community-Oriented Primary Care (COPC) program and more recently, as the Academic Training Team Assistant. In both roles, she supported students' academic trajectories and Departmental projects and initiatives. Prior to her work with the department, she completed several years of administrative consulting with the Smithsonian Institution and one year of volunteer service with the Virginia Hospital Center's Emergency Department.
Katie earned her Master of Public Health degree in Community-Oriented Primary Care from the George Washington University’s Milken Institute School of Public Health, and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from the University of California - Santa Cruz. She also is an AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) alumna, having completed two terms of national service.
Her interests are mentorship of students, the practice of Public Health, community service, and administration, so she is pleased to serve as the Practice Manager for PCH.
