Dr. Gabby Headrick is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences. Dr. Headrick joined the Milken Institute School of Public Health in Fall of 2023. Prior to joining the Milken Institute School of Public Health, Dr. Headrick earned her PhD in Public Health Nutrition at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Headrick also holds her Masters of Science in Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. She has practiced in the field of public health nutrition in clinical, community, and governmental settings.

Dr. Headrick’s research focuses on optimizing federal nutrition assistance programs to achieve household food security and promote nutrition equity, with a specific focus on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistant Program (SNAP). Dr. Headrick studies intersections of food equity and nutrition assistance programs in America, in addition to strategies to promote human-centered participant experiences in social benefit programs in the United States. Dr. Headrick also researches local food systems and the impact of municipal food policies and programs in urban settings. She uses both quantitative and qualitative methods paired with community-led research processes to investigate the impact and implementation of programs and policies.
