Jeanne A. Jordan Wins Prestigious Clinical Virology Award

On March 2, the Pan American Society for Clinical Virology (PASCV) announced that Jeanne A. Jordan, PhD, a professor in epidemiology at the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health (Milken Institute SPH) will receive a prestigious career achievement award.

Jordan won the Ed Nowakowski Senior Memorial Clinical Virology Award, which recognizes an outstanding scientist whose contributions to this field have had a major impact on the understanding of viral disease pathogenesis, epidemiology or treatment.

Jordan draws on her extensive expertise in microbiology, clinical laboratory medicine and virology to strengthen laboratory systems around the world and to study viral diseases. She is currently working on research aimed at curbing the HIV epidemic in the District of Columbia as well as a separate study identifying biomarkers that better predict high-grade disease in anal cancer caused by the human papilloma virus.

She will receive the award on Monday, May 4, at the Clinical Virology Symposium, sponsored by the American Society of Microbiology and PASCV and held in West Palm Beach, Florida.
