Dr. Kimberly Nguyen is currently a Professorial Lecturer at the George Washington University's (GW) Milken Institute School of Public Health. She has taught Applied Public Health Methods and Epidemiologic Methods in Assessing Vaccine Hesitancy at GW in the past three years. Previously, she has taught Introductory and Applied Epidemiology, Survey Methods, and Public Health Practice at Tufts University School of Medicine. She has worked with dozens of graduate students on dissertation committees and research projects, leading to publication, advanced educational opportunities, and careers in public health. In addition to academia and research, she works full-time as Captain in the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps and Lead Health Scientist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where she leads a team of scientists to analyze, evaluate, and disseminate data from the national immunization surveillance system - the Immunization Information Systems. She has over 15 years of experience in state and federal government, including state health departments, the Food and Drug Administration, and various programs at CDC, including tobacco, HIV, violence prevention, preparedness and response, global health, and immunizations. She has developed and implemented national surveys in the U.S. and around the world, and is recognized for translating research into public health practice. Her primary research interests are in assessing vaccination coverage, identifying disparities in vaccination coverage, exploring hesitancy toward COVID-19 and routinely recommended vaccines, and developing strategies for increasing vaccine uptake and confidence.
