Dr. Rice joined GWU in 2001 and the Biostatistics Center in 2002. Her research focuses on maternal-fetal heath and she is currently a principal investigator for the NHLBI-funded CORD Clamping among Neonates with Congenital Heart Disease trial. Other research includes the NICHD Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units Network, the NICHD-funded Umbilical Cord Milking in Non-Vigorous Infants trial, the Gates Foundation-funded Redefining Anemia during Pregnancy project, and the CDC Muscular Dystrophy Surveillance, Tracking, and Research Network. Dr. Rice also serves as a faculty advisor for master and doctoral students in the Department of Epidemiology, Milken Institute School of Public Health.
