Imomotimi (Timmy) Imomotebegha is a strategic research operations and public health leader with more than a decade of experience advancing research, innovation, organizational effectiveness, and stakeholder engagement across academic medical centers, research institutions, healthcare organizations, and nonprofit settings. His expertise spans research administration, operational leadership, compliance, partnership development, and mission-driven innovation that strengthens institutions and improves health outcomes.
As Senior Research Operations Specialist at The George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health (GWSPH), Timmy provides strategic and operational leadership across a research enterprise of more than thirty centers, institutes, and programs. Working closely with senior leadership, he leads initiatives that enhance research productivity, strengthen compliance and integrity, improve operational efficiency, expand partnerships, and increase the visibility and impact of scientific discovery.
His portfolio includes research operations, strategic planning, proposal development, budget oversight, workforce development, research communications, philanthropy engagement, and organizational change management. He has successfully coordinated complex initiatives involving university leaders, federal agencies, industry partners, philanthropic organizations, and community stakeholders while ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and regulatory requirements.
Known for building bridges across disciplines and sectors, Timmy has supported multimillion-dollar research proposals, cultivated strategic partnerships, and advanced initiatives that strengthen research infrastructure, increase institutional competitiveness, and foster interdisciplinary collaboration. A hallmark of his leadership is a commitment to research integrity, ethical governance, and operational excellence. His expertise includes research ethics, regulatory affairs, human subjects protections, quality assurance, risk management, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
Prior to GWSPH, Timmy served in research operations and program management roles at Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland, supporting clinical and translational research in oncology, HIV/AIDS, cardiovascular disease, transplantation, COVID-19, aging, mental health, and health equity. These experiences provided a strong foundation in both the scientific and operational dimensions of research enterprises.
Beyond his professional responsibilities, Timmy is deeply committed to public service and community engagement. As a PCORI Ambassador, University of Maryland PATIENTS Program facilitator, health equity advocate, and contributor to university governance and inclusion initiatives, he champions patient-centered research, workforce development, ethical leadership, and meaningful community partnerships.
Timmy is currently pursuing a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) in Health Policy and Management at The George Washington University, where his research focuses on the ethical governance of artificial intelligence in public health. His work explores frameworks that promote transparency, accountability, equity, and public trust while ensuring innovation serves the public good.
