Welcome to october!
October is not just Spooky Season;
It's also a time of celebration of the Jewish and Pagan New Years, as well as Disability Employment Month, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Domestic Violence Month, Down Syndrome Awareness Month, LGBTQIA+ History Month, and the following Heritage Months: Filipino-American, German-American, Italian-American, and Polish American.
Rosh Hashanah- Oct 2-4
Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, is a time of reflection, prayer, and renewal. It marks the beginning of the Jewish High Holy Days and offers an opportunity for introspection, atonement, and hope for a sweet new year. The common greeting is "Happy Rosh Hashanah" or "Shana Tovah (shah-NAH toe-VAH)"!
Yom Kippur - Oct 11-12
Yom Kippur (yaam kuh·poor) the Jewish Day of Atonement, is the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. It is a time for reflection, repentance, and seeking forgiveness through fasting, prayer, and spiritual renewal.
Samhain- Oct. 31st- Nov 1
Samhain (Sow-wen), celebrated as the Pagan New Year, honors the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. It is a time for reflection, connecting with ancestors, and embracing the changing seasons.
Disability Employment Awareness Month
National Disability Employment Awareness Month highlights the importance of inclusive hiring practices and celebrates the contributions of workers with disabilities. It advocates for equitable opportunities and an accessible workplace for all.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Breast Cancer Awareness Month raises awareness about breast cancer, encourages early detection, and supports those impacted by the disease. It is a call for education, prevention, and research toward a cure.
Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Domestic Violence Awareness Month sheds light on the prevalence of domestic abuse and the need for prevention. It aims to empower survivors, educate communities, and support resources for those affected.
Down Syndrome Awareness Month

LGBTQIA+ History Month
Different than Pride Month in June, LGBTQIA+ History Month honors the history, struggles, and contributions of the LGBTQIA+ community. It advocates for equality and recognition, while celebrating the individuals who have shaped the movement.
Filipino-American Heritage Month

German-American Heritage Month

Italian-American Heritage Month
