Research Reopening Guidelines for GWSPH

The Research Reopening Guidelines for GWSPH is a document compiled by the ORE with the help of numerous faculty contributors. The guide contains protocols for restarting research projects with specific focus on our school. The contents are designed to help principal investigators come up with individualized plans for their own research. It should provide a valuable resource as the university progresses through the various phases of reopening.

This document is currently a draft version, and we are open to suggestions and feedback. Please contact [email protected].

Approvals for Research Initiation/Restart

In accordance with the Office of Human Research (OHR) guidance released 26 June 2020, all schools are now responsible for reviewing new research and restart/reopen requests for existing projects and laboratories. GWSPH has a protocol in place that includes a detailed breakdown of nine elements that must be included in a restart plan (if applicable) and includes a fillable template. One request must be completed for every research project or laboratory.

As our understanding of COVID-19 and the university's efforts to reopen continue to evolve, this approval process may also change. Please check back periodically for updates and email any feedback to [email protected].

Research Initiation/Restart Approval Process:

  1. Review instructions and complete a Template for Research Initiation/Restart
  2. For questions, contact [email protected] for clarification
  3. Submit the completed request to the department chair for approval and signature
  4. Email the signed request to [email protected]
  5. Requests will be reviewed and a determination will be returned to the Principal Investigator
