Dr. Farooq is an assistant professor in the Department of Global Health at GW. She is a perinatal epidemiologist and works on a large study called The Pregnancy Risk and Infant Surveillance and Measurement Alliance (PRISMA) Maternal and Newborn Health (MNH). PRISMA is a population based, open-cohort study that seeks to evaluate pregnancy risk factors and their associations with adverse pregnancy outcomes, including maternal morbidity and mortality. This study is spread across six sites across Pakistan, India, Ghana, Kenya and Zambia.
Dr. Farooq received her PhD from University of Pittsburgh in Epidemiology 2022 and completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the Milken Institute of Public Health, Department of Global Health, The George Washington University in 2023. She has also worked on malaria and ebola vaccine development and studying immune correlates of protection at the DoD.
