The George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health is excited to share the accomplishments of the 2nd Annual Community Partner Appreciation Event, which took place on Thursday, April 4th. This gathering united community partners, public health professionals, faculty, students, and supporters, acknowledging and celebrating the remarkable contributions to the field of public health made by various individuals and organizations.

Highlights of the Community Partner Appreciation Event included insightful speeches from Dean Lynn Goldman and Lori Freeman, CEO of National County and City Health Officials (NACCHO). The event also featured a student-led panel discussion, an awards ceremony, and a student poster session and served as a valuable platform for showcasing the excellent collaborations and partnerships, which serve as a cornerstone of our educational experience. 

"We provide a gateway to becoming an integral part of public health's vibrant and dynamic landscape and our practice partners are not just an extension of our academic environment; they are one of our greatest assets," said Lynn R. Goldman, Dean of the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health.

The event also featured a special awards ceremony, where several outstanding individuals and organizations were recognized for their exemplary contributions to training public health students. Community Partner Award recipients were DC Health HAHSTA, Centers for Advanced Orthopedics, Global Women PEACE Foundation, NACCHO Government & Public Affairs, Beacon House, Eastern High School, Jackson-Reed High School, Dr. ElShadey Bekele, and Dr. Janet Phoenix.

The event culminated in awarding the Don Strong Community Partner of the Year Award to Guidehouse, for their dedication and continued engagement of both current students and alumni of the School of Public Health over the years.
