Laura DiGrande is an applied scientist specializing in the design, implementation, and evaluation of large-scale data collection efforts for surveillance and observational epidemiology. She has worked primarily in local and state government, including the health departments of New York City, Massachusetts, and New Mexico. In New York City, she led pioneering studies on 9/11-related PTSD among civilian and disaster response cohorts via the World Trade Center Health Registry. Dr. DiGrande currently works at RTI International as a Senior Manager in Applied Social Sciences. She also serves as RTI Director of Dietary Operations for CDC’s National Health and
Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) and is Principal Investigator of a USDA-funded project to modernize dietary assessment methods.

Dr. DiGrande holds an MPH from Boston University and a DrPH from Columbia University. She has twice mentored fellows in the CDC/CSTE Applied Epidemiology Fellowship Program. Dr. DiGrande teaches PUBH 8732: Applied Public Health Methods II - Mixed Methods in the DrPH program.
