Two EOH Professors Receive Support from Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center

April 11, 2018

The Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Center bills itself as “a place where exceptional minds unlock ideas, advance knowledge and activate solutions to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges.” The center supports the work of scholars, artists, thought leaders, policymakers, and practitioners who share in the Rockefeller Foundation’s pioneering mission to “promote the well-being of humanity around the world.”

Two professors in George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health have been officially invited to the Bellagio Center, which is located on Lake Como in the foothills of the Italian Alps, this year. Both are in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health (EOH).

Professor David Michaels will be going to the center as a resident in May. He will be reflecting on his service as Assistant Secretary of Labor for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in the Obama Administration. He plans to write about ways to improve prevention of occupational injuries and illnesses in the U.S.

Associate Professor Sabrina McCormick has received approval to convene an event at the center. Her event, “Empowering Climate Litigation Through Media Support: Using courtroom dramas to tell compelling climate stories,” is scheduled to take place from October 1 - 5, 2018.
