With a blend of online and in-person sessions, MHA@GW offers the same renowned faculty, admissions requirements and academic rigor as GW’s on-campus program.

As an MHA@GW student, you’ll have the option to complete the program on a full-time or part-time basis, and graduate in as little as two years. You’ll study alongside faculty who are experienced researchers and policy experts at the center of health care in Washington, D.C.

Throughout the program you’ll uncover your leadership style and engage with elite health care professionals during four in-person immersion experiences. Our interdisciplinary curriculum includes topics such as business and medical informatics, management theory, finance law, policy and decision-making. Of course you’ll always be backed by GW’s robust public health community of scholars, teachers and leaders who are influencing health care delivery around the world.

Master of Health Administration (MHA) degree is centered around preparing health care professionals for leadership positions in both private and public sector environments. ONLINE MHA CURRICULUM

Fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME), MHA@GW offers a 50-credit program designed to prepare you for management and administrative positions across the health care landscape. The program was created by GW’s expert faculty who are active health care professionals in Washington, D.C.

MHA@GW features an interdisciplinary curriculum delivered through eight 10-week modules that focus on essential skillsets for aspiring health care leaders:

As a student, you’ll develop your expertise across a variety of topics, gain industry insight from health care influencers and make connections with peers and faculty.

ONLINE MHA IMMERSIONS

A fundamental cornerstone of MHA@GW’s curriculum is the in-person immersion experiences. These courses are crafted to deliver hands-on learning, networking opportunities and exclusive insights from seasoned leaders and influencers.

Over the course of four immersion experiences, you will engage with active health care professionals who will show you how to combine theory and practice. In preparation for health management roles, you will discover and develop your own leadership attributes and investigate:

  • emotional intelligence
  • servant leadership
  • health systems analysis
  • ethical principles
  • organizational change

Three of these in-person experiences will take place in Washington, D.C. — the center of health care policy and law. In addition, you’ll attend one off-campus immersions at a reputable health organization located around the world.

During the last immersion, you will present a culminating research project to your fellow peers and professors. This capstone experience will signify everything you’ve learned and practiced throughout your time in the program.

ONLINE MHA ADMISSIONS

The George Washington University’s online Master of Health Administration program, MHA@GW, seeks experienced health care professionals who are dedicated to leading transformative change in organizations and communities around the world. The program can be completed anywhere from two to four years.

MHA@GW offers program start dates four times per year, typically in January, April, July and September. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Learn more about start dates and deadlines.

ONLINE MHA PROGRAM ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

To apply to MHA@GW, you must have earned a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university. Applicants must have at least two years of full-time health sector experience or three years of full-time experience in any industry.

All students must currently be employed in the health sector field and those students with less than two years of experience must pass an online examination prior to enrolling in Module 1. Applicants are not required to take the GRE or GMAT.

To complete your application, you must submit the following:

  • Official transcripts from all educational institutions attended
