Dr. Katia Peterson is an Adjunct Faculty member in the Departments of Prevention and Community Health and Global Health. She is a practicing research and evaluation specialist with more than 20 years of experience designing and implementing mixed-method evaluations and research studies across low- and middle-income countries. With a focus on international development, her expertise spans an array of disciplines, including qualitative and quantitative research methods to impact and performance evaluations with a focus on health systems strengthening and health behavior change programs.
Throughout her career, Dr. Peterson has worked with prominent organizations such as USAID and WHO, alongside international and local NGOs. She provides strategic leadership in program evaluation, data analysis, and knowledge translation to help organizations and host country governments implement more effective and efficient programs. Her current focus in on program evaluation adaptation in conflict and post-conflict settings.
Dr. Peterson is also a dedicated academic, serving as Lecturer at the George Washington University School of Public Health since 2013. She teaches courses on health communication, social marketing, and behavior change in low to middle income countries. She holds a PhD in Public Health from the University of Queensland and a Master of Public Health (Epidemiology) from the George Washington University.
