Message from the Dean: Announcing the Interim Senior Associate Dean for Research and Innovation

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Christopher Mores, current Interim Chair of the Department of Global Health, as the new Interim Senior Associate Dean for Research and Innovation.

As we celebrate Dr. Adnan Hyder’s appointment as Dean of the School of Public Health at Boston University, Dr. Mores will step into the role on August 15, 2025.

I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Mores’ willingness to step forward in this time of great uncertainty, not only across the federal research enterprise, but also during changes within GW’s research processes.

Dr. Mores brings excellent experience as both a virologist and epidemiologist. He is a leader in the Department of Global Health, Director of the Global Health Epidemiology and Disease Control MPH Program, and Director of a high-containment research BSL-3 laboratory, in which he has collaborations with scientists across the university. He leads or collaborates on SARS-CoV-2 studies, Mpox investigations during the 2022- outbreak, and ongoing studies into chikungunya pathogenesis and treatment. He also played a key role in providing technical assistance for GW during the COVID-19 pandemic.

I look forward to working with Dr. Mores, and know his leadership will be greatly appreciated across GWSPH’s research enterprise.
