A recent Lancet profile offers detail on Carlos Rodríguez-Díaz’s research on culturally appropriate interventions for populations made socially vulnerable in Puerto Rico, the Caribbean region and the US including people living with HIV, incarcerated individuals, Latinx people, and sexual and gender minority groups. It also details early influences on Rodríguez-Díaz’s decision to pursue a career in public health and his belief that mentorship of people of color, scientists whose first language is not English and sexual and gender minority students is central to dismantling “the structures that make scientific work so hard for so many of us”.
