Peer Review of Teaching (PRoT) Sponsored by the GWSPH Master Teacher Academy
NEW FOR SPRING 2026:
Peer Review of Teaching (PRoT) Sponsored by the GWSPH Master Teacher Academy
The Master Teacher Academy (MTA) is proud to announce our inaugural Peer Review of Teaching (PRoT) program for GWSPH faculty! Our objective is to provide interested faculty with a one-on-one and confidential peer consultation experience that will support their pedagogical practices. This program is rooted in the spirit of positive, collegial support and the promise of mutual growth and camaraderie.
The PRoT process is intended to be customizable to each participant’s needs and desired areas of feedback for growth as an instructor. To accomplish this, a typical peer review will take place in three stages: (1) an initial consultation meeting between the reviewer and reviewee (in-person, via phone, or via Zoom) where those needs and goals are intended to come into focus and shape the PRoT process, (2) a peer observation of a faculty member’s live or recorded class session and any related course design elements or assets relevant to the review, and (3) a debrief meeting to discuss the reviewer's observations and jointly discuss strengths, receive suggestions and advice, and collaboratively identify growth opportunities. Altogether, we anticipate this process taking 3-4 hours of time for each participant. That said, we realize that each instructor’s needs and availability are unique, and this process can be adapted as desired.
Please note that this program is completely voluntary. The MTA designed this program to keep your participation and any reviews we generate of your teaching confidential. Please note that this process operates outside of any other GW-related annual/performance review and may not replace those reviews or assessments. Any faculty that chooses to participate in this process are welcome to share their MTA peer consultant's feedback with whomever they choose.
Please complete THIS FORM to request a peer review of teaching consultation and someone from our program will be in touch with you. The MTA will review intake forms during their monthly meetings; as such, applicants should expect a response within 30 days of submission. For additional information on this program, and to review the customizable checklist document, please visit the MTA website here: https://publichealth.
